Different mind, but same conciousness
@Deleted User - jump
how would you tell apart two situations:
it's the same consciousness
it's different consciousness but it experiences memories of being present the day before?
Lucilyn: the host/original person in a brain has been slowly shaped by countless experiences over the body's entire lifetime (and in most cases, also lived believing/associating everything about the body/mind with their sense of self, rather than thinking of themselves as just a single identity that's plugged into the senses/consciousness)(edited)

a tulpa is the same thing as a host is in this sense, except generally much much much less developed, with far fewer experiences having shaped their preferences, values, etc.

but a tulpa can grow as a person just as the host does, and eventually there's not necessarily a difference anymore

this is the core reasoning behind "Switching" being possible, the advanced technique of a host and tulpa switching positions (so the host is then as a tulpa normally is, and the tulpa is how the host normally is, fully connected to the senses and consciousness "driver's seat" and all)

there are many people who will give you more complicated advice than this, but it's not necessary in the end
I think more complicated advice could be valuable in some instances. But only really if the basic technique fails... Or maybe not and just more commitment/self-reflection and reading on/opening to the idea. Or just asking about your doubts like this... I feel like I went on a pointless tangent
Well, my headmates seem to have roles, so they like to be specific to their roles
Like eishi likes to make everyone happy, momo likes to defend me, and james likes to be miserable IFIFKFMFK

(James is a guilt holder)

I don't think of james as a tulpa at all though, but i think of eishi and momo as half-tulpas
this is just new to me and ive been very lonely and in need of a companion but everything sounds complicated and hard to do and im a bit panicked.
were you guys anxious your first time?
1. Talk to them
..that’s pretty much most important. Interacting with them. That’s what matters. It gives them the example and experience to build off of
In general, possession means the tulpa controlling the body while the host has ultimate say over the experience. Switching generally means a host and tulpa switching places OR a host "becoming" their tulpa. However, possession and switching are highly personalized and the reported experience can be very different from system to system
